Sunset

Promising

A panoramic landscape with the lowest quarter in a deep shadow, field and some trees. The rest is sky with a brilliant orange and cream sunset in a blue background. The very top is a blue.
Red Sky at Night, Sailor’s Delight

With so much uncertainty in the world today, we have to hold on to promises that we’re sure of.

This sunset is one reason to always take my camera when I go for a walk. Because you know that if you don’t, something will be there for you to photograph with something better than a phone. This particular time it was with me. I confess it’s too cold to hold it at the moment and too clumsy with heavy gloves, but it won’t be long until the warmth will start again, and that’s a promise.

My Landscapes are all in this gallery.

Sunset Geometry

A sunset scene of a playground with the vertical and horizontal poles of the equipment lit by the setting sun, creating geometric lines. The playground itself has white circles and curved lines for basketball, and the basketball hoops are in the right of the image. The school building itself is a pinky orange block with window and structure lines.
Sunset Geometry

Happy Thursday! Who liked geometry at school? Actually, I did. This is full of just the sort of lines and shapes that I grew to love in those classes. A sunset picked these elements out perfectly, at the same time putting a rosie glow on the school. That’s a colour that I don’t imagine too many students associate with their school days, which is a shame. I hope this brings back some good memories of fun times.

Long Beach Sunset

A golden sunset scene of a stony beach. The waves are low as they wash onto the shore. The distant hills are a little misty. There is a lone figure in the distance , standing on a spit of stony shore reaching into the water. The clouds are broken, and between them is a pale blue sky at the top of the image, but a golden horizon gives the scene a warm glow.
Long Beach at Sunset

There is little enough peace in the world, so we appreciate the calm moments that we’re so fortunate to experience here. I’m very happy to share this one with you all. Our beach walks in Nova Scotia always seem to ground us and remind us of the beautiful natural elements that are always there, despite all the chaos that we see in the news and social media.

Have a lovely Sunday, whatever you are doing, friends.

School Reflections

A long window divided into narrow panes reflects clouds and a sunset sky with a red streak along the horizon, with silhouetted trees. We see what might be a filing cabinet and a tiny print of a hand, perhaps on the wall above the filing cabinet.
Reflecting on School

The other night after I got the “It’s Over” sunset photos, I passed by a school on my walk. I couldn’t resist the reflection of the remaining glow, as seen in the window here. I loved how the elements worked together, in the multi-paned frame, including the trees, clouds and red streaks with the filing cabinet (I guess) and that mysterious little hand print on the wall. Enjoy your day, friends!
