Striped Crocus

Striped crocus and Bee
Striped crocus and Bee

We’re not finished with crocuses for this year (nor even with today’s share) as I just love them too much and can’t bear to see them finish so quickly! For your Saturday enjoyment here is a lovely striped one we have in our garden. It’s another featuring a bee, which makes me so happy to think that my garden has so much to offer insects even this early in the season. This time our visitor is a little camera shy, I think, or she was just focused on her meal and wouldn’t be distracted by me and my camera so close. This crocus is right in amongst the periwinkles that carpet our bank (you can see the leaves around it), so it’s a feast for insects in that area, for sure. We had snow yesterday and I would like to think she and her friends survived the cold and made it home safely to shelter. Today will be warmer for them. I hope that you all have a lovely weekend, warm and sunny if possible and I send you all a hug. A Flower a Day #224

  1. I think your small fuzzy visitor is either playing peek-a-boo with us or he has fallen in love with his crocus and is in a blissful embrace. Either way, it’s a lovely picture of nature at its sweetest. Oh, and the crocus is lovely too with its subtle markings and bright stamen, in the perfect setting for it in amongst the periwinkle leaves.
Thank you, Ellie. for my (and only) smile of the day.

    1. Either way, as you say, it can bring a smile, but I am only sorry if there were no others for you, Janet. Hopefully today brings more. There are not too many going around here at the moment either. Thanks again. XO

  2. Amazing photo Ellie. Love the stripes on that crocus. I love that little bee that’s peeking over this top with a statement as well – fantastic shot. Thanks again for sharing

    1. Thanks Linda. I was so pleased when that little bee started flying around so I waited lying on the ground until it came onto the flower I was photographing.
      Enjoy your day.
