Red Mexican Zinnia
I don’t know about you, but I think of a crown when I look at this flower with the bee. There is no necklace on this but those rich red petals look like a ruff. Then there are the little gold spikes surrounding a red velvet centre where the bee sits, like a jewel. These natural sights are more precious than any real crowns, at least to me, because they are freely available to be sown and grown for all to admire, rich or poor. As so many plants, they are members of the Aster family, perfect for World Wide Aster Day on this last day of October. I was looking at seeds for zinnias last night (yes, I plan to grow my own next year if I can) and the choices are bewildering! How is it possible to avoid bankruptcy when you see all the possibilities? I’m rambling now, so I will let you all get on with your day with the thought of this lovely flower and its bee. I wish you all a richly happy WWAD, my friends. View all posts on the Home page. A Flower a Day #414

October 21 Gallery :
A gallery of flowers shared on a daily basis to cheer myself and hopefully you, the viewer too, during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic period. Posts from October 2021
I think this bee looks right at home on its throne of red velvet tinged with gold adornment. It may have had difficulty choosing among all the zinnias but seems quite settled in its choice here. I know that the same fate awaits you, Ellie, and that you too will enjoy your choice(s) of zinnia whichever it/they is/are. Thank you for this perfect WWAD.
He/she seems perfectly content as you say. And no doubt you will know all about whatever I settle on for next year. Thanks again, Janet.
Thanks Ellie it is lovely. Such bright deep red. Then the little Orange around the center. They look like a second set of flowers going on within. Then our little friend the bee hard at work doing his job so we can enjoy them again next year. Hugs you and Steve
I’m glad you like it Linda. A second little grouping of flowers inside, like a bonus for us, are you say! Thanks again.
