We haven’t finished with Spring flower photos yet, though most of the actual blooms have now given way to the early summer ones. This gorgeous deep purple tulip was blooming in the ex garden of a friend of mine. (An ex garden is my term for a garden that is at her previous house.) So many dark tulips seem to get marked up so badly that the photographs are not very successful, but this one was spotless! A deep rich colour, this bloom was really unusual and even more striking as it was next to the glorious yellow forsythia I featured a while ago. Seen together, they are the perfect colour combination. Have a good day, my friends. A Flower a Day #278 (NB while I make every effort to identify the flowers I post, I make no guarantee that the name is correct. It’s about the photograph, not the name.:-) )

From Amelia Brown:
“If a purple tulip could talk
She would say something calm, cool and wise,
Without the flash,
A soothing, ready balm.”
Like a steady hand at the rudder she stands, a soothing beauty. Thank you, Ellie, for this late Spring treat.
Beautifully expressed Amelia and nicely found and quoted, thank you Janet.
