My walk is not terribly exciting by many standards, but it seems nevertheless to be filled with subjects for my Flower a Day project. This little grouping of orange and yellow striped tulips, for example, caught my eye in the front garden of a house on the edge of the road. The garden is beginning to look a little neglected, with the dandelions grown up around everywhere and the lawn unmown, as maybe no one lives there at the moment. The tulips of course couldn’t care less. They seem to bloom happily and so prettily no matter how overgrown their surroundings. You might be surprised to learn how many of the flowers I share here were found along the road and paths of my 5 -6 km walk, even though a lot of it looks totally uninteresting if you were to drive by or even walk without paying attention. While I try to move at a good speed, to make sure I get some cardio exercise, the journey often takes much longer than it should, if I have my camera around my neck. It’s all in a good cause, as I send this bunch of tulips to you all to wish you a lovely start to your day. And of course with it I send a hug. A flower a Day #255

I don’t know why you say you’re walks aren’t terribly exciting. I look forward to my walks every day and always search people’s gardens for interesting plants and arrangements. Anything that can be classified as a find is exciting in my view. Like these bright candy-stripers, do they resemble a blend of raspberry and orange sherbet?; a small camp fire for young families or garden fairies? Or are they just another garden delight that catch your eye because of their striking appearance? That, too me, is exciting and what makes a mundane exercise anything but. So, thank you, Ellie, for taking me on your interesting walks with you.
Ah, I did qualify my comment by saying my walks were not exciting by many standards, but that didn’t mean that those standards are necessarily mine. It’s true that these are not deep forest or high mountain treks! But clearly I do get really excited by many of my finds, just as you do. So much so that I bring them here for everyone’s attention! I’m so glad you liked my candy striped sherbet campfire garden delights today. The pleasure viewers get from my finds adds immeasurably to what is already the excitement of my walks. So thanks for helping in that, Janet.
They are beautiful Ellie and it is amazing how they come up regardless of the care they’re given. Love the stripes of those tulips. Thank you very much for sharing. Sending a hug and wishes for a good day back to you and Steve.
Thanks Linda. You and Blair have a lovely day yourselves. It will be warmer.
