These lovely tiny flowers look as if they have been painted by a child with a little paint brush that has dripped a little orange paint here and there after daubing that lovely bright centre. The dark pattern around the centre is then softened to a wash of pale mauve on the petals. I would have been delighted to have designed such a lovely thing when I was painting, as a child or as an adult, come to that! These flowers seem so often to be massed together, so it is wonderful to single a couple out for individual admiration. These are next to the other phlox I shared that are planted on the bank next to the road, to be seen only by those few people walking by. And now for you all! Happy Thursday, friends. The child that painted these flowers was artistic with a flair for great design. It always amazes me that even in the smallest of creatures, if you take the time to look closely, you will be dumbfounded ( or I am, at least) by the level of intricate detail and diversity that has gone into the design. No natural thing is too insignificant to not warrant this attention. It keeps us humans endlessly amused …and that’s a good thing. Thank you, Ellie, for today’s lesson.
I too am constantly dumbfounded by what I find when I look closely. Of course I need to take the photograph to be able to see this detail at all. Otherwise my eyes are just not able to see it. All the more reason for me to keep taking these, so I can keep on discovering and being amused – endlessly indeed! Thanks Janet.
They are lovely Ellie. I love your description of how the flowers look like they were painted. I was wondering when I saw the one orange dot on the first petal then the second if they all were like that. Thank you so much for the information and beautiful photo. Lovely to look at and cheer us up. Hope you have a great day.
Yes, they look sweet, thanks Linda. I’m glad if it helped cheer a bit. Lovely day, in any case.
