These lovely tiny flowers look as if they have been painted by a child with a little paint brush that has dripped a little orange paint here and there after daubing that lovely bright centre. The dark pattern around the centre is then softened to a wash of pale mauve on the petals. I would have been delighted to have designed such a lovely thing when I was painting, as a child or as an adult, come to that! These flowers seem so often to be massed together, so it is wonderful to single a couple out for individual admiration. These are next to the other phlox I shared that are planted on the bank next to the road, to be seen only by those few people walking by. And now for you all! Happy Thursday, friends.
