Lily of the Valley

Lily of the Valley
Lily of the Valley

Lily of the Valley looks so fragile and dainty. But plant it next to your paved drive and it will force its leaves up through that drive and be marching across it before you know it! We had to remove it from where it grew profusely for that reason (among others). However when I was in a part of the garden a long way from where it had been growing, back in early June, here was this persistent flower growing under a tree, almost hidden from view. Obviously persistence pays off as we feel it won’t do any damage where it is and it has been left in peace. Good example for us, persist in your dreams until they become a reality and you can flourish in peace. A Flower a Day #303  (NB while I make every effort to identify the flowers posted, I make no guarantee that the name is correct. It’s about the photograph, not the name.:-)

  1. Fragrant little bells, trying to hide unsuccessfully under their broad leaves, but proudly emitting an intoxicating perfume which is a dead giveaway to anyone with a working nose. It seems its purpose is to announce the arrival of summer and then fade away. But for a week or two, its fragrance fills the air and is appreciated. Thank you, Ellie, for a noseworthy offering today.

  2. Such a lovely little dainty flower Ellie the Bell shapes hanging down. If I remember right it has a lovely smell as well. But I could be wrong in that one. Hope you have a great day. Hugs to you and Steve
