Hosta Flower

Hostas are wonderful shade garden plants, grown for their luxuriant tropical foliage of many different textures and patterns. How often, though, is the flower of this plant overlooked? Like delicate bonnets or parasols in soft shades of purple, they are often visited by hummingbirds and bees in our garden. As I made the time to seek out every flower that I could find for the project I have discovered some surprising delights I have overlooked in the past. I hope these posts have done the same for you.

As a special Saturday bonus I am sharing here a multiple exposure of a Rhododendron I made a few years ago after a wonderful Blurs mentorship on Google+. The photo links to my ‘Flora’ gallery for more floral delights if you are in the mood and have time to check it out.

  1. Ah, the humble hosta, whose pretty flowers are short-lived and often overlooked. Mine are long done. So you are fortunate to find these little delicacies who seem to be cheekily sticking out their tongues at the world. A delight! Thank you.

    1. Now you found me out! I have a bank of flower pictures that I hope will carry me through the garden season, and this is one! Mine are all finished too and the leaves are now deliciously golden. I’m glad you like it.
