Dried Blue

Dried Blue and Brown
Dried Blue and Brown

I did manage to produce a sunny day (well, maybe I wasn’t entirely responsible for it 😉 but it happened anyway, for which I was grateful) and so there will be a lot to do in the garden, preparing for new growth. In the house the flower arrangements of dried hydrangeas still give us pleasure, even the ones that seem to have dried less successfully. This beautiful display features some fairly intense blues, along with the paler, gentler ones and the soft, warm browns are a lovely compliment. I know this is possibly pushing you to your hydrangea appreciation limits but please indulge me for now. We will have plenty of time for fresh new flowers and I do want to share some of my favourite ones here before then. We will be back to crocuses and other spring flowers again before long, don’t worry. I hope you enjoy the lovely tones and textures in this, to give you a pleasing floral start to your day.

  1. Only Mother Nature could pull off a colour scheme like this and make it look so beautiful. A pale blue, a darker blue and a dusty reddy rose, combined in perfect harmony to set off both the young and the not-so-young in this gentle display. It proves, once again, that no matter where it is in the life cycle, there is elegance and artistry to be found. Thank you, Ellie, for this lovely image.

    1. So true Janet, the artistry is unmatchable and makes our efforts seem puny by comparison! And as you say, the elegance is there whatever the age. Thanks again for your comment.

  2. You could wax poetically about the aging process here. It’s beautiful with all its petals. Glad you’re getting some sunny days.

    1. I agree, Kathy. I almost did exactly that, but I refrained this time. I’m so glad just the photograph alone brought the thought to mind. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and obviously this one sent that message loud and clear!

  3. Thanks Ellie it is lovely. It’s nice that we were able to take in some flowers from our summer fall plants to be able to keep them inside the house to enjoy them all year round. I do love the different blue brown mixture and the texture on the pedals thanks again for sharing hope you have another beautiful sunny day.

    1. And I have you to thank for the blue in this, Linda! It really does give us such a lot of pleasure to see them through the winter months. The day really is a beautiful one as you know.
