Dark Eyes Fuchsia

The richly coloured blossoms of fuchsia flowers outside our kitchen door are so cheering to us and are frequently visited by hummingbirds. Do they find their way in to the nectar that might be in there? I am not sure in these fancy hybrid flowers which are such a change from the simple wild blooms in the fields and woods around us. There is a place for both, though, and these are obviously frivolous dancers, more the grasshopper than the ant in philosophy, dancing, rather than fiddling the days away until the fall. I hope your day has moments of joyous frivolity today, my friends. A Flower a Day #337

  1. This beauty is a member of the RedHat society, a group of ladies of an age where they can declare that I will wear red and purple together if I want…and so they do. However l’m not sure anyone can outdo these fuschias for style and elegance. The rain or dew drops are nice touch, enhancing the look with some sparkle…definitely trend setting. These blooms are nothing if not showy, but they carry it off with such panache, they leave the rest of us green with envy. Thank you, Ellie, for this gorgeous display

    1. I for one would hesitate to even attempt to outdo these ladies, so perfect is their sense of style! On most of us their attire would look garish and shocking, where they wear it with such aplomb, as you pointed out. Thanks as always, Janet.

  2. They are lovely Ellie. Again the contrasting colors are amazing. One of my mom’s favorite flowers she always had them. And she had the ability to make things grow. Thanks again for sharing and hope you have a great day. Looks like it’s going to be a lovely one.

    1. I didn’t know that your mum was such a green fingered person, as she was so much older when we met her. But I guess you inherited that skill from her, too. It has been a lovely day, with that humidity just a little less. Have a good evening and thanks for the comment, Linda.
