Cyclamen

Hmmm. I don’t know about you but I am noticing a definite pink theme going on in my A Flower A Day posts lately. It doesn’t seem to be bothering anyone, so I am just going to continue the theme with this lovely cyclamen I got the other day. I have never seen a flower that looked best when it was hanging its head down until I saw this. I am not going to say a thing about what that might suggest to us who may be feeling a little down these days. Just take this at face value (or rather face down value) and enjoy these lovely blooms as they stare at the ground. Cyclamen bring back to me memories of failures in keeping plants alive, so I am hoping that this time I will have more success with this beautiful plant.

  1. I don’t see any heads hanging down at all, Ellie. What I see is a very innovative plant who has decided to put it’s interesting design elements on the outside of the main petals, a bit like the native costumes of the German and Austrian women who wear a bright or lacy skirt over a solid coloured base skirt. It works beautifully, doesn’t it?…and in using this novel approach, the Cyclamen is guaranteed to stand out in a crowd, looking very pretty in pink indeed. Thank you

    1. Yes, it does indeed work beautifully! A petalled overskirt is a perfect description. In any case I fell in love with it and bought 2 of them! Thank you again.

  2. It is beautiful Ellie. Love the color really bright the person’s day. and with all the knowledge you’re gaining from these plants you’re posting you might have success in keeping this one alive. I sure hope so I will enjoy the blossoms when I come for a visit.

    1. Thanks Linda! And I did what you suggested and took it outside to photograph it. I hope the cold didn’t shock it too much, though it’s still alive this morning!
