So my violet-thumbed better half is again responsible for growing today’s Flower a Day. It seems a bit lame to call it a blue violet, but as I don’t have a name (another acquisition from the hardware or possibly grocery store, where they don’t bother to name their varieties) this will have to do. Besides, it is a blue African violet. I love the contrast of colours here and how I can almost make smiling faces of the petals as they overlap. Have a happy day, with lots of smiles wherever you see them, my friends.

It is a blue violet, but it could just as easily be called blue velvet. Whereas yesterday we had a masterclass in the intricacies of design, today the class is on the elegance of simplicity. The pared-down shape of the petal with just the slightest curl in its line where it joins up with its neighbour is understated. The coup de gras is the tiny perfect little centre in contrasting yellow which draws the eye in for a visual kiss. Perfection. It gets a 10 from me. Thank you, Ellie.
Now I am enjoying the gold star feeling of a 10 from you, thank you Janet! I do wish you could actually see the flowers on these violets here. But for now, this is the best we can do. Until things change. Thanks again.
Thanks Ellie it is an amazing colour. and I love the contrasting colour as well bright yellow then darker blue and then the lighter blue.. they can’t help but make you smile when you see them. And brighten your day.
